International Education Day

Since 2018, January 24th has been celebrated as International Education Day. This year marks the fourth year of the celebration with the theme being ‘changing course, transforming education’. The aim of the day is to bring global peace, sustainable development and quality education for all.

International Education Day is significant as education is a human right that everyone should have access – as declared by the United Nations. It is unfortunate that not everyone has access to education, with 258 million children and youths still not attending school; 617 million children and adolescents being unable to read and do basic math. The COVID-19 pandemic heightened this divide with education suffering a huge gap during the pandemic due to the closure of schools, universities, and other educational institutions with online lessons being adopted worldwide.

Overall, International Education Day 2022 aims to generate debate around how to strengthen education as a public endeavour and common good, support teachers and unlock the potential to contribute to collective well-being and our shared home. We are proud that at Step Forward Tuition we do all we can by offering discounts to those that need it most and next year, we will be offering free places through a scholarship scheme to the most deserving students who may not ordinarily be able to have access to quality tuition.
